RateMyDutch ("we", "us") is a trade name of Hounat Advisory, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK 42108620), Amsterdam, the Netherlands. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use ratemydutch.com and how we handle it.

What we collect

Contact details — your name and email address when you request a speaking scorecard or subscribe to practice emails.
Practice data — answers and audio recordings you submit for feedback, and your self-assessment responses.
Usage data — pages visited and events such as starting a practice session, including the campaign source that brought you here (e.g. a link from an ad).
Payment data — if you buy a paid plan, payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details.

How we use it

To generate your speaking scorecard and personalised feedback (audio submissions are processed by an AI grading service).
To send you the practice emails you signed up for. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and we stop the sequence immediately when you use it.
To understand which content and campaigns are useful, so we can improve the product.

Analytics cookies (opt-in)

With your consent — via the cookie banner, off by default — we use PostHog (EU Cloud, data stored in the European Union) to understand how the site is used: pages visited, clicks, device type, and session recordings that show how visitors move through the site. Recordings mask everything you type, so your email address and answers never appear in them. We identify you in PostHog only by a random subscriber ID, never by name or email. If you decline the banner, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is recorded. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing this site's cookies, after which the banner will ask again.

Legal basis

We process your data on the basis of consent (emails, scorecard), contract (paid plans), and legitimate interest (basic usage analytics). You can withdraw consent at any time.

Storage and sharing

Data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore). Transactional and practice emails are sent via Resend. Payments run through Stripe. Opt-in analytics data is processed by PostHog (EU Cloud). We do not sell your personal data, and we only share it with these processors as needed to run the service.

Retention

We keep your data while your subscription or email sequence is active. If you unsubscribe, we keep a suppression record (so we don't email you again) and delete or anonymise the rest on request.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. To exercise any of these rights, email us.
